Like so many adoptees, 26-year-old May (Seong Yoo Ri) has a lot of questions about her past. She returns to Korea from the United States for the first time since she was adopted 23 years ago to try to find her birth mother and understand why she has a lizard-like scar on her shoulder. At the airport, she meets taxi driver Eun Seol (Jang Hyeok), who takes her to an address she brought with her. But when she gets there, May is told her parents died in an accident when she was young. Dejected, May asks Eun Seol to take her to a nearby hotel, and he takes her to one that is right across the street from his home. May learns that Eun Seol has a rare heart condition that makes his heart stop suddenly. Everyday, he prepares for his impending death by keeping his affairs in order. After meeting May, Eun Seol decides to help her find the answers to her past. May, in turn, helps Eun Seol to focus on living instead of just waiting for his death. "Maybe," also known as "Rabbit and Lizard," is a 2009 South Korean film by first-time director Ju Ji Hong.
